New Patients

New patients are always welcome at Holohan Dental. We invite you to visit our warm and friendly office anytime or call us to schedule a complimentary consultation with one of our doctors.

New Adult Patient

Your first appointment at Holohan Dental Professionals establishes a vital foundation for our relationship with you. Our goal is to develop and maintain trust-based relationships with our patients, and that begins with taking the time to understand your dental health needs and concerns, and giving you time to get to know your doctor.

During your initial appointment, we will review your past history and discuss your current concerns. We will perform a complete and thorough dental evaluation, including an oral cancer screening, periodontal examination, bite evaluation, and any necessary x-rays. We will focus on identifying your personal dental health needs and desires, as well as your present condition. Following our evaluation, we will review our recommendations and discuss available treatment options with you, including the fees, and answer any questions you may have. Our caring team is dedicated to helping you maintain your personal dental health for a lifetime.

New Child Patient

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children visit the dentist by their first birthday so that newly erupted teeth (between 6-12 months) can benefit from proper oral hygiene habits and dental care right from the start.

However, the timing of your child's first visit to the dentist can depend on your child's readiness and other factors. Most children should have their first "regular" visit to the dentist just after their third birthday unless you have questions or concerns about your child's teeth, your child has suffered an oral injury, or your child has risk factors such as sleeping with a cup or bottle, teeth staining, thumb sucking, etc.

At Holohan Dental, we focus on making sure that your child's first visit is enjoyable and positive. The first dental visit is usually short and involves very little treatment. We may ask the parent to sit in the dental chair and hold their child during the examination. We will gently examine your child's teeth and gums. X-rays may be taken to reveal decay and to check on the progress of your child's permanent teeth under the gums. We may clean your child's teeth and apply a topical flouride to help protect the teeth against decay. We may provide advice on adverse habits like thumb-sucking which may cause problems with teeth development. And we will review with the parent how to clean and care for their child's teeth at home.

In addition to practicing good oral hygiene habits at home, children of all ages should have regular dental checkups and cleanings every 6 months. Fluoride treatments twice a year will help keep teeth strong, and sealants, which last for several years, are recommended to prevent decay.
